Stockport County have completed the signing of St Mirren forward Mikael Mandron on a one-year contract. The 31-year-old arrives at Edgeley Park after a standout season in Scotland, where he scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists. Mandron’s arrival bolsters Stockport’s attacking options as they prepare for the new League One campaign, following their 5th-place finish in the 2025 season with 70 points (20W-10D-11L).
Who is Mikael Mandron?
Mandron is a versatile forward known for his physical presence and aerial ability. He began his career at Sunderland, where he joined as a scholar at 17, and has since played for clubs including Eastleigh, Wigan Athletic, Colchester United, Gillingham, Crewe Alexandra, Motherwell, and St Mirren. His most prolific season came last year, scoring seven goals in eight Scottish League Cup ties as St Mirren won the trophy for only the second time in their history.
Why did Stockport sign him?
Stockport’s head of recruitment, Jonathan Smith, highlighted Mandron’s ability to lead the line and create space for teammates. “Mika is a player we’ve tracked for an extended period,” Smith said. “His size, work rate, and ability to occupy defenders make him a valuable addition.” Mandron’s experience and goal-scoring record align with Stockport’s ambitions to challenge for promotion in League One.
What’s next for Stockport County?
With Mandron now on board, Stockport will look to build on their strong 2025 season, where they scored 61 goals and conceded 50. Their next fixture is an away match against Reading on February 27, 2027, with the team currently sidelined by injuries to L. Bate and C. Camps.
