Stockport County defender Christy Grogan has left the club to join Derry City. Grogan, 20, moves for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
What happened?
He joined Stockport from Stoke City last summer after 10 years with the Potters.
Grogan struggled to break through at Stockport and joined National League side Aldershot Town on loan in December after being restricted to just two appearances in the EFL Trophy.
Why it matters for Stockport County
County recalled him from his loan in April because of an injury crisis and he played two league games for the League One side, which is currently 26 points behind leaders Lincoln.
Stockport said in a statement: 'We thank Christy for his efforts during his time as a County player and wish him well for the future.'
What comes next?
As Stockport County looks to the future, they are currently standing 3rd in League One with 77 points, having scored 71 goals and conceded 58, and will look to bounce back from their last result, a 4-1 loss to Bolton on 2026-05-24. Their recent form has been mixed, with 3 wins and 2 losses in their last 5 games, and they will hope to improve on this as they move forward without Grogan.
