Stockport County is reportedly eyeing former Salford City midfielder Ossama Ashley as a potential signing. The 26-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with Salford expired at the end of the month. During his time at Salford, Ashley made 66 appearances but faced significant injury challenges, limiting him to just 18 matches last season in League Two. His last game with Salford was the play-off final at Wembley, where the team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Notts County. According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, both Stockport County and Barnsley are considering moves for Ashley. While he may not seem like the most glamorous signing due to his recent struggles, he possesses undeniable talent when fit. Ashley began his career with AFC Wimbledon before moving to West Ham United, and after a stint with Colchester United, he joined Salford in 2023. Now, he is eager to revive his career in League One, and Stockport County could provide the perfect opportunity for him to do so.
